Once upon a time, Kristina Knight spent her days running from car crash to fire to meetings with local police—no, she wasn't a troublemaker, she was a journalist. When the opportunity to focus a bit of energy on the stories in her head, she jumped at it. And she’s never looked back. Why do you think
people should choose your books over another author? – This is one of those
questions that is hard for me to answer because I'm soooo not a 'buy my book
it's the bombdiggity' kind of girl. At least with people I'm just meeting. That
said, I do love my characters and stories and they're lonely over there on the
shelf, so go pick one up, k? J I think people should try new writers, in general,
new books, new genres and get out of their comfort zones. Literacy is a
precious, precious thing – in the pages of a book you can visit historical
times, 'see' the Eiffel Tower or the Egyptian Pyramids. Books open other worlds
to us and so, whether you're reading my books or someone else's, my main goal
is to get people reading.
What do you hope
readers take with them after reading one of your stories? – That we all
wear masks, sometimes even with ourselves, and that to find true fulfillment we
have to take those masks off, accept ourselves, love unconditionally and strive
for those unreachable goals. OH! And sex can be absolutely as fabulous as it is
in books…you just have to try harder!
What books or authors
have most influenced your life?Mark Twain's writings – any and all. He had
such a mastery of description. I'm awed by his work. Laura Ingalls Wilder – she
taught me that it was okay for a girl to be rambunctious, curious and that we could
do and be anything we wanted to be. Nora Roberts because she's Nora. Hollah!
Shakespeare because he wrote love like no one else!
How do your family
and/or friends feel about your book or writing venture in general?- my
family has been so supportive! My husband has my book covers hanging in his
office, my mom and mother-in-law tell everyone they meet (including grocery
store clerks and random people on the street) about my books. I am so blessed
to have a core group of believers around me – they keep me going, for sure!
Has your life changed
significantly since becoming a published writer?-Yes and no. I'm as busy
now as I was before but it's a different kind of busy. I have to fit promo in
with writing and home-making and toddler-raising and general wifery. I've
definitely learned the power of 15 minutes and I multi-task with all my might!
Do you work on one
project at a time? Or do you multi-task? – I'm a multi-tasker: I usually
have 1 draft going, 1 project in edits and from there I try to get promotional
plans in place for my next book(s).
When not writing, how
do you relax?- Will you think I'm a lush if I say alcohol? Okay, we won't
go there! Actually, I'm really a lightweight when it comes to drinking and my
husband and I aren't much for the party scene. We can usually be found doing
the dinner-and-a-movie thing when I'm off deadline, hanging around our pool or
playing with the kiddo. Oh, and baking has a really, totally calming effect on
my. Baking is my zen.
Please tell us 5 miscellaneous facts about yourself. – * I'm
the baby of our family and the middle-sister all in one (because my parents had
2 'sets' of kids – there are almost 10 years between me and my younger
siblings). * I love dark chocolate and if that dark chocolate is made with
sea-salt I'm in heaven. *Las Vegas is my favorite city. Ever. *My daughter
believes I'm the best thing ever and I'm sticking with that assessment as long
as possible – she's 4, I figure I have less than 10 years left. * Romance makes
me laugh, cry and makes the world go round – that's my favorite thought.
