Guest Blogger Hillary Seidl

It all started with a towel.  Can you believe it?  Unlike many ghost stories mine is fairly tame.  My grandparents owned a building that was built in the late 1800’s and was used a train stop in New Castle, Colorado.  They opened a restaurant on bottom and apartments on top.  I was around eight years old when I spent the night with my grandparents.  After a shower and my nightly ritual, I was around the toilet when I looked past the corner to see my wet towel fly across the room and land by the washer and dryer.  I didn’t get the chills, my hair didn’t stand on end, I just yelled out, “Sorry Grandma!”.   I knew my grandma was already in bed and I just figured that she picked up my wet towel off the floor and tossed it in the laundry.

I finished brushing my teeth and entered the adjourning bedroom.  When I looked to the bed, my grandma was fast asleep and I just stood there… wondering.  What had happened? Knowing I wouldn't be able to sleep with questions running through my mind I gently shook her awake.  I asked her if she had thrown my towel in the bathroom.  She got a funny look on her face.  She said she had been asleep since her head hit the pillow.  I believed her.  It turns out that I didn't sleep very well that night.

That experience set me on a path of questions that I’m still on.  I know what I saw.  I believe that ghosts exist.  That wasn't my last run-in with ghosts.  I had more as I got older and I knew that this was something that can’t be explained.
My books are contemporary paranormal that focus on hero and heroine’s extraordinary powers dealing with something from the beyond.  I like to think that there is a connection between consciousness of an alive person and one of the dead.  It’s a theme that deals with questions, powers and love.  That’s what truly inspires me!

  4. Hillary I was sleeping on the front porch of my parents house, almost asleep, when the screen door slammed and the a spark of light flew across the ceiling. I was paralyzed. I had to get past the front door in order to get into the house.

I finally did. I never slept out there again, I don't think I went out there after dark for a very long time. It could all be explained away, of course, static electricity, wind, etc...but still. It did not feel like that at the time.

Good post! I can't wait for your book!!

  6. Jenn, that is a really, really creepy experience! I find the spark of light you saw facinating. Even for static electricity that would have to be really large. Thank you for sharing with me!

  7. I like it when someone takes something in their lives that could have been traumatic, (or was), and changes it into a positive experience like a book. Fabulous! :D
